Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop controls software/logic for various assembly applications
  • Commission stations for full production and customer runoff in a timely manner
  • Use Siemens TIA Portal, SIMATIC Manager, WinCC & ProTool to write software/logic
  • Use Allen Bradley/Rockwell Studio5000/RSLogix5000 & FactoryTalk View Studio to write software/logic
  • Travel to and from customer sites (Typically 50%; <20 miles from our office; around the metro detroit area)

Education and/or Job Experience:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • +2 years of controls related experience preferred.

Special Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers (PLCs) and discrete I/O.
  • Proficient at reading IEC and JIC standardized electrical drawings.
  • Ability to read technical documentation on unfamiliar hardware in order to integrate it into the system.
  • Familiarity with software data types such as: bytes, ints, chars, struct, etc.
  • Strong understanding of computer networks/networking.
  • Strong communication skills (both technical and non-technical).
  • Proficient with computers and ability to use everyday software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).

Personal Characteristics:

  • Passion for engineering.
  • Enjoys solving technical problems and takes challenges head-on (sometimes with minor guidance or reference material).
  • Works well with others.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure efficiently and effectively.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexible to scheduling that can deviate from the typical workday hours.

  • Familiar with Siemens TIA Portal, SIMATIC Manager, WinCC & ProTool to debug & modify software/logic
  • Familiar with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Studio5000/RSLogix5000 & FactoryTalk View Studio to debug & modify software/logic
  • Travel to and from customer sites (Typically 50%; <20 miles from our office; around the metro detroit area)
